On-call, response coordination and postmortems are the backbone of incident management. Here is an honest look at the best platforms in 2026, including how Atlassian retiring Opsgenie changes the shortlist.
The shortlist
Incident management is really two jobs: coordinating the humans and, increasingly, reducing how often they are needed. The classic tools focus on the first. With Opsgenie being retired, the market is shifting, and it is a good moment to weigh coordination against resolution.
PagerDuty
Best for: On-call & responseThe leading independent on-call and incident-response platform, with event intelligence and runbook automation (Rundeck). Excellent at getting the right human involved fast.

Best for: ITSM-native AIOpsEvent management, service mapping and Predictive AIOps native to the Now Platform and CMDB. Ideal if ServiceNow is already your system of record; resolution is assembled from workflows.

Is Opsgenie still a safe choice?
No. Atlassian stopped selling Opsgenie to new customers in June 2025 and has set end of support for April 5, 2027, directing customers to Jira Service Management and Compass. Existing users should plan a migration.
PagerDuty or incident.io?
PagerDuty is the broader, market-leading on-call and response platform with automation; incident.io is Slack-native with excellent human coordination. Both keep a person in the loop; Opstral aims to remove the need for one where it is safe.
